Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Head of Active Fixed Income Division
Des is the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Standish. He also sits on the Executive and Operating Committees of BNY Mellon Investment Management. In 2012, he was also made a member of the Bank's Operating Committee. Des joined Standish in January 2005 as the Chief Operating Officer and subsequently rose to the position of President in 2007 before becoming the President & CEO in February 2009 and Chairman in 2012.
Prior to taking on his present role, he was President & CEO and Head of the Active Fixed Income division. During his career progression at Standish, he has been responsible for product development and had line management responsibility for Investment Operations, Technology, Risk Management, Trading, Finance, Structured Products and Global Workout Solutions.
Prior to joining Standish, Des served as the Chief Operating Officer at Pareto Partners. Des has over 23 years of related industry experience, including the positions of CFO and Treasurer of GM Asset Management in New York and CFO at Asset International in Greenwich, CT. He has also worked as Managing Director and Head of European Pension Strategies for Deutsche Asset Management. His early career was spent working with the Frank Russell Company and the London Stock Exchange.
Des has an MPhil in Management Studies from the University of Exeter, where he also served as an Honorary Research Fellow, and a BA from University College Dublin.
David Leduc, CFA
Chief Investment Officer
David is Chief Investment Officer responsible for overseeing all investment management activities at Standish. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of Global Fixed Income and Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for overseeing the management of all non-US and global bond strategies. He subsequently took on the role of Chief Investment Officer of Active Fixed Income.
David joined Standish in 1995 as a portfolio manager and analyst for US domestic fixed income, moving from structured finance to global strategies in 1999. Prior to joining Standish, David spent seven years as an Investment Officer at State Street. He has an M.B.A. from Boston University and a B.S. from the University of Rhode Island. David holds the CFA® designation and has 26 years of investment experience. David's activities with not-for-profit organizations include serving as senior representative for BNY Mellon Trust Company in its role as Corporate Trustee of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation Trust.
Michael Faloon, CFA, FRM
Chief Operating Officer
Michael is the Chief Operating Officer for Standish. He is responsible for market risk management, measurement, and monitoring. Additional responsibilities include working with AM Operations to oversee Standish's technology and operational initiatives in order to generate efficiencies in the firm's processes. He joined the company in 1999 from Fidelity Investments.
Michael is a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals and holds a Financial Risk Manager certification. He has a Masters in Financial Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. Michael has an M.S.F. from Northeastern University and a B.S. from the University of Maine, holds the CFA® designation and has 14 years of investment experience.
Christopher Austin, CFA
Managing Director, US Sales & Global Consultant Relations
Chris is an Executive Vice President and Head of Standish’s U.S. Sales & Global Consultant Relations effort. Chris joined Standish in 2003 to build out its consultant relations platform before expanding his leadership responsibilities for U.S. Sales in 2008.
He joined Standish from State Street Research, where he was a Vice President and Consultant Relations Manager. Previously, Chris served as a manager research consultant at Mercer. Chris has a B.A. in Economics from Lake Forest College. Chris is a member of the CFA Institute, the Boston Security Analysts Society, and holds the CFA® designation. Chris is a former Board member of the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives (AIMSE) and has 17 years of investment experience. He holds the Series 24, 7 and 63 securities licenses.
Andrew Catalan, CFA
Managing Director, Liability Driven Investing
Andy is Managing Director of the Liability Driven Investing group and chairs Standish’s Credit Committee. Andy joined Standish in 2001 as Senior Global Credit Analyst responsible for insurance, automotive, wirelines and wireless sectors.
Before joining Standish, he worked at The Boston Company Asset Management (TBCAM) as a high-yield research analyst. Andy also served as vice president and manager of strategic planning and business development for Mellon Institutional Asset Management. Prior to TBCAM, he worked at Liberty Mutual in various strategic planning and finance functions and Bank of New England and Shawmut National as a corporate lending officer. He has an M.B.A. from Suffolk University, an M.S.F. from Boston College, and a B.S. from Bentley University. Andy holds the CFA® designation and has 26 years of industry experience.
Anthony Criscuolo, CFA
Managing Director, Insurance Client Strategies
Tony is Managing Director of Insurance Client Strategies. Leading the insurance team, he is responsible for implementing broad investment strategy, client relationship management and risk management. Tony joined the company in 1998 and had been a Senior Portfolio Manager for Tax Sensitive Strategies before taking the role of Director of Relationship Management in 2009.
As a senior member of the Tax sensitive team, Tony was instrumental in developing and implementing investment strategy. Prior to joining Standish, Tony worked for Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Connecticut, where he led the Treasury and Investment Division. Tony has an M.S.F. from Fairfield University and a B.S. from Quinnipiac University. He is an active member in alumni affairs for Quinnipiac University and is a member of the Boston and Hartford Security Analysts Societies, holds the CFA® designation and has 28 years of investment experience.
Thomas Graf, CPA
Managing Director, Global Product Strategy
Tom is Managing Director of Global Product Strategy for Standish Mellon Asset Management, LLC. Seconded to BNY Mellon in Singapore, Tom is responsible for all aspects of Global Business Development and Product Strategy within Standish’s Active Fixed Income division. He works closely with Standish’s investment teams and various distribution entities within BNY Mellon to help promote Standish’s fixed income strategies in the Asia Pacific region.
Prior to his secondment, Tom served as Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager for Standish’s Global Securitized Strategies group. He was responsible for overseeing $6 billion of Standish’s non-agency securitized investments. Tom also headed the firm’s legacy Global Workout Solutions business, a fiduciary advisory business for clients holding distressed assets, which at its peak reached $29 billion. Before joining Standish in 2008, Tom was Director of Securitized Products and Senior Portfolio Manager for Wachovia Corporation, a Wells Fargo Company. Prior to joining Wachovia in 1992 Tom was a certified public accountant for both PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Akron. Tom has over 26 years of combined experience in institutional fixed income asset management, commercial and investment banking and public accounting.
David Horsfall, CFA
Co-Deputy Chief Investment Officer
David is Co-Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director of Opportunistic Fixed Income having worked on this strategy since 1997. In conjunction with the CIO, David is responsible for overseeing the management of all single and multi-sector active fixed income portfolios.
David also serves as the head of Standish's Fiduciary Committee and is a senior member of the firm's Counterparty Committee. Prior to being promoted to Deputy CIO in September 2008, he spent 11 years as the firm's Head of Active Fixed Income Trading. He has broad experience trading investment grade corporates, high yield corporates, emerging markets debt, liquid products (i.e., Treasuries, agencies, TIPS), structured products (i.e., ABS, CMBS), derivatives (i.e., swaps, futures, forwards, options), and global/non-US securities. He joined the firm in 1989 and has spent his entire 24-year career with Standish. David has an M.B.A. from Boston College, a B.A. from St. Lawrence University and holds the CFA® designation.
Amy Koch, CFA
Managing Director, Active Fixed Income Trading
Amy is a Managing Director and is the Head of Fixed Income Trading. She is responsible for the day to day operations of the taxable trading desk which includes the oversight of execution, allocations and compliance for all trades across the cash bond, derivative and foreign exchange markets.
Amy is an active member of the Senior Management Committee, Operating Group and the firm's Counterparty commitee. Prior to this, she was a senior credit trader and has broad experience across the investment grade and high yield markets. She joined the firm in 2004 from Columbia Management Group where she was an investment grade bond trader. Amy has a B.A. from the College of Holy Cross, holds the CFA® designation and has 15 years of investment experience.
Alexander Kozhemiakin, PhD, CFA
Managing Director, Emerging Markets Debt
Alexander is Managing Director and the Emerging Markets Debt Team Leader. He joined Standish from Putnam Investments, where he was Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager for emerging market debt.
Prior to that, he was Emerging Market Sovereign Analyst at Citibank in New York. Alexander received an Honors Diploma from Moscow State Institute for International Relations. He has a PhD in International Relations from the University of Illinois and was a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University. He holds the CFA® designation and has 16 years of investment experience. Alexander's research on emerging market debt and other areas of fixed income has been published in the leading finance journals, including The Journal of Portfolio Management, The Journal of Fixed Income, and The Journal of Investing.
Patrick Lyn, CFA
Managing Director, Client Service
Patrick is Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Client Service responsible for all aspects of client service for institutional active fixed income clients. He joined the company in 2006 from WestLB Asset Management where he served as the U.S. Fixed Income Product Specialist.
Prior to that, Patrick worked for Davis Hamilton Jackson & Associates where he was a Portfolio Manager and Director of Fixed Income Investments. Previously, Patrick was a Trust Officer with Texas Commerce Bank and started his career in public accounting at Ernst & Young. He has an M.B.A. and Master of Accounting from Rice University and a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from Knox College. He also holds the CFA® designation, and has 22 years of investment experience.
Managing Director of Global Sales and Product Strategy
Alex is Managing Director of Global Sales and Product Strategy for Standish Mellon Asset Management LLC based in Boston. He is a Director and Head of the Standish Division of BNY Mellon Asset Management (UK) Limited, and represents BNY Mellon Asset Management on the BNY Mellon Sovereign Advisory Board.
Alex has oversight responsibility for all aspects of Global Business Development and Product Strategy within Standish's Active Fixed Income division. He works closely with the investment teams within Standish and with the various distribution entities within BNY Mellon to promote Standish’s fixed income investment strategies and propose solutions to US and non-US clients. Alex joined Standish in 2004 from Pareto Partners in London where he held the position of Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Pareto's Europe and Middle East clients since 1997. Prior to joining Pareto, he was Vice President and Head of Product Management at Bankers Trust Company in London and New York for five years. Alex has 27 years of experience in financial markets. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment in the UK and received his Diploma in Accountancy from City of London University. He holds FINRA Series 7 & 63 licenses.
Co-Deputy Chief Investment Officer
Raman is Co-Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director of Global Fixed Income. In conjunction with the CIO, Raman is responsible for overseeing the management of all single and multi-sector active fixed income portfolios. As head of the Global Fixed Income team, Raman oversees all global and non-US fixed income strategies.
Raman joined Standish in 2012 from Putnam Investments where he was Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for global fixed income, multi-sector fixed income and absolute return strategies. Raman earned a Masters of Science in Computational Finance degree at Carnegie Mellon University and Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. Raman holds the CFA® designation and has over 16 years of investment experience. In 2008, Raman was named one of the top 20 rising stars of fixed income by Institutional Investor magazine.
